Amy Pascal, Sony Pictures Entertainment co-chairman, said the following in a presentation to investors, ” We are going to access Marvel’s full world of Spider-Man characters, so be on the look out for new heroes and villains.” So who is going to get a spin off movie? While nothing is confirmed I think it’s a set deal. Venom! Venom may even be more popular than Spider-Man himself, in the comic book fan community, so it’s a no brainier to give him his own movie. If you don’t believe Venom is a big draw at the box office here are some numbers. Spider-Man 3, which Venom was marketed being in, has had one of the highest opening weekends of all time with $151,116,516 and then went on an got almost $900 million. Those are huge numbers for a movie in 2007, and are also astounding numbers for a film that was beyond awful, I’ll save that rant for another time. As I said earlier, noting is confirmed about what Sony will do, but there has been a strong outcry from fans, actors, directors, and even Sony executives to give Venom a movie.Regardless which way Sony goes, it’s going to be soon so they can cash in on the comic book movie craze. Heck, this could even be teased in the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man 2 that hits theaters this summer.
Also another bit of movie news to report is that the live action Jungle Book movie gets an October 2015 release date. Disney is trying to cash in on the live action adaption of Alice in Wonderland success which made them close to a billion dollars. Also, this stacks up Disney already all star line up of 2015 movies. In case you don’t know some of Disney’s 2015 movies are: Avengers 2: The Age of Ultron, Star Wars episode 7, Ant-Man, Disney and Pixar the Good Dinosaur, and just a few months after 2015 is over Finding Dory. It will be nice to be a share holder in Disney come 2015 and early 2016.
That’s all for today, and there will not be a video. I will try and put one up Wednesday. Have a great day and Stay Nerdy!
