Micheal Douglas is Ant-Man opposite Paul Rudd!

It is now confirmed that Paul Rudd will star as Scott Lang in the upcoming Ant-Man film. It is also now confirmed that Micheal Douglas will play Hank Pym in the upcoming Ant-Man film as well. Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige said the following, With Hank Pym’s rich history in the Marvel Universe, we knew we needed an actor capable of bringing the weight and stature to the role that the character deserves. We felt incredibly relieved when Michael Douglas agreed to step into the part with the charm and fortitude he brings to every character he inhabits, and couldn’t be more excited to see what he will do to bring Hank Pym to life.”

For many people this could be confusing, because you have two Ant-Mans, but Director Edger Wright has shed some light on this situition stating on twitter, ““So you actually do a prologue where you see Pym as Ant-Man in action in the 60’s, in sort of ‘Tales to Astonish’ mode basically, and then the contemporary, sort of flash-forward, is Scott Lang’s story, and how he comes to acquire the suit, how he crosses paths with Henry Pym, and then, in an interesting sort of Machiavellian way, teams up with him.”

This is indeed an interesting development. Ant-Man is a lesser know name to the average moviegoer, so it makes sense that they have gotten both Micheal Douglas and Paul Rudd, two big households name, to come in on this project and draw some mainstream buzz. I also think having both Ant-Mans in the movie is a good because we as comic book fans get both Hank Pym and Scott Lang teaming up together. This is a great move by both Marvel and Edger Wright. They have knocked the casting out of the water.
