Spider-Man is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

Announced yesterday, by Marvel, Spider-Man is finally coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For those who did not know, Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man, which has prevented the web-slinger from appearing in the Avengers. However, just be clear, Marvel still does not own the rights to Spider-Man. Sony still has final say in creative direction and the way he will be used in any Marvel/Disney film, and Marvel/Disney will not influence what Sony does creatively for the Spider-Man stand alone films. As of now, we are expected to get a new Spider-Man movie, yes Andrew Garfield is getting replaced, in July 2017, but this won’t be the first time we get a look at Spider-Man as we will appear in a Marvel/Disney film before his stand alone. As of right now the candidates are Captain America 3, Dr. Strange, and Guardians of the Galaxy 2, as they come out before the new Spider-Man.

Personally I, like many other comic book nerds out there, love this move. The old Spider-Man universe was not working and after the second installment of the Amazing Spider-Man I wanted no more. It will be a geek’s dream come true to see Spider-Man, most likely, appear with the Avengers. The only thing that I do not like about this is that it leaves the plan for the Venom movie up in the air. As of now, nobody knows what is going to happen with the proposed, and green lit Venom movie, but it was something I was looking forward to. Hopefully we’ll still get a one.
